Nuit Blanche

We headed out for Nuit Blanche last night around 10:00pm, grabbed a bite to eat in the Marais where I had escargot still in the shell; it had the most wonderful earthy flavor, very unlike what you get in the States, which usually is more about the flavors of butter, white wine and garlic than the snails.

We tried to take in one of the art installations entitled "Purple Rain" but the line was 3-4 blocks long and 4-5 people deep. We fought our way through the crowd on the street to the entrance where we could see a purple glow emanating from inside and standing on a railing, I could just make out people wlaking around with clear umbrellas in an artificially created “rain.” Not sure anyone who was waiting in line would consider it worth the wait, but then again, art is in the eye of the beholder.

Leaving the crowd, we worked our way along a side street and came across this light show, which consisted of lights flashing to the rhythm of music.

We arrived back at the apartment around 3:30am. Not bad for a first day.

Note: The video of Purple Rain on YouTube was not created by me.
